
Mr. Sadwick primarily focuses on complex litigation and environmental law, federal and state litigation and administrative actions, compliance counseling, and advising businesses on environmental issues arising in corporate and real estate transactions. Mr. Sadwick has comprehensive experience involving California’s Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (Proposition 65), and has had major representations in many of the most significant Proposition 65 cases. He has extensive experience working with toxicologists and other scientific experts developing and applying risk assessments and exposure assessments. Mr. Sadwick’s practice emphasizes defense of representative actions and class actions brought under California’s unfair competition and consumer protection statutes, including the Business & Professions Code, the Consumer Legal Remedies Act and related statutes. He also has extensive experience with state and federal air permitting, regulatory and enforcement matters; the Occupational Safety & Health Act (OSHA) issues; the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and related land-use issues; the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA or Superfund); the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA); the California Hazardous Waste Control Law; and various other federal and California environmental laws and regulations. Mr. Sadwick regularly represents clients in negotiations and adversarial proceedings involving these statutes.
He clerked for the Honorable David R. Thompson, U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, Judicial Law Clerk, 1986-1987, attended Stanford Law School, (J.D., with Distinction, 1986), Stanford Environmental Law Journal, 1984-1986; and the University of California, San Diego (B.A., magna cum laude, 1983). He is active in the California State Bar (Environmental Section); District of Columbia Bar; and Los Angeles County Bar (Environmental Section).
